Luca, our favorite Italian and Emily's brother from another mother, graciously opened his home to us for a few days. Upon arrival to this safehaven we were instantly force fed, which was a shock to our Clif bar diet.
Meal numero uno:
Appetizer- pizza and pesto flat bread.
Second course- pasta.
Third course- Italian fried chicken and fries
After dinner- cheese and fruit.
Last but not least- Gelato.
How do you say full in Italian? We still don't know how, but we sure felt it.
Wednesday morning we arose to a gloomy day and we don't mean because of the weather...we mean because 2 American hoodrats, Harrison and Michael, were headed our way. Fortunately, our temporary Italian mother had a breakfast of champions awaiting us- 2nd carb load in 12 hours.
Following the Italian way (four espresso shots later), we were at the train station waiting for the hooligan's arrival. Finally, with the boys in tow, we were off to lunch at our Italian casa (3rd carb load).
To work off this recent weight gain, we headed straight to the city center to explore. Being the naive youngster he is, Michael was victimized by the suave North African street vendors, who conned him into buying bracelets from Senegal and corn to feed the pigeons.
After exploring the city we found ourselves in the castle park in a heated Spades tournament. With the dynamic duo (Emily and Jodi) in the lead we decided to break for some amazing pizza and more gelato. Then off to bed with dreams of Lake Como in our head!
